Guiding Principle

"We develop great people first, great teammates second, and great hockey players third. When we do all three well, winning follows."

This philosophy gives every coach, player, and parent a clear understanding of what the program stands for and how players progress from elementary school through varsity within one unified hockey development system.

DEIHC Player Development Progression

Our player development pathway is built on the belief that great hockey players are developed through consistent teaching, progressive skill development, and a shared club philosophy—not shortcuts or early specialization. Every stage of the Downingtown East Ice Hockey Club is intentionally designed to build upon the previous one, creating a seamless progression from elementary school through varsity hockey. As players mature, the emphasis shifts from mastering fundamental skills to developing hockey IQ, team systems, leadership, and competitive excellence. By following one club-wide development model, every coach, player, and family understands the expectations, language, and values that define our program, ensuring each athlete reaches their full potential while contributing to a culture of excellence.

Expected through implementing this progression strategy in 2026-2027 that the DEIHC can establish the Elementary team presence for the coming 2027-2028 season.
